Background

You were born to a minor noble house in North West England. Your childhood was a happy one, and even when your gift had manifested you were lucky: it has less of an effect on mundanes than a normal gift (Gentle gift +1). When still young, a young woman - Johanna - came to live with your family, and began to teach you how to read and write in both english and latin. Your father did not seem to mind - you were his third son, and it mattered less how you spent your time - and you enjoyed your studies. When you father died, however, your brother became head of the family, and threw Johanna out. She returned a week later and you willingly went with her. She was a magus of Jerbiton and took you back to her covenant to train you.

Your apprenticeship was a delightful one. Johanna was a good teacher and not only introduced you to magic, but to the wonders of the mundane world. Magically, you are not amazing, though you are able to work magic without raising your voice (Quiet magic +2) and if necessary, can use the strength of your own body to power your magic (Life linked spontaneous magic +3). You only do such magic if it is urgent, as it is somewhat painful.

It is in the social field that you are best. You are unusually attractive to anyone you try to attract: women find you witty and desirable, and affairs of the heart invariably work out OK (Venus blessing +1). You can be particularly charming when you try, even when not trying to attract someone (Knack (Charm) +2) - you are used to getting your own way.

An incident at the end of your apprenticeship, however, has left a lasting impression. Johanna had just presented you as a full magus, and you were introduced (you can't remember by whom) to a young woman. She made an immediate impression and soon you were deeply in love. After leading you on, she lured you to a remote castle, where she revealed herself as a minion of the infernal. She tried to seduce you : her offer was clear, take her - so desirable - or suffer. But somewhere inside you, you found the strength to resist and you were imprisoned there. Each night she tried again, and each night you refused. Only after 2 weeks, did Johanna manage to track you down and rescue you, dispelling your tormenter. You have been left with a fear of the dark - a result of the long periods spent in the darkness awaiting your fate (Common fear (dark) -2), a shuddering fear of the infernal - which even effects your magic (Susceptibility to infernal power -4) and the knowledge that you were close to giving in to her. This knowledge haunts you, and occasionally, you are utterly overcome by despair (Sense of doom -3). Noone apparently knows what happened, but if it got out not only would you be humiliated in the Order but a taint of diabolism would stick to you. (Dark secret -1)

You joined Dragonclaw as a quiet, young covenant significantly close to Chester. Chester is small enough to be fun, large enough not to stand out too much. While you have spent a fair amount of time working on your magic, the rest of the time has been spent with the local mundanes. You don't use obvious magic, enjoy their company and have made a number of contacts. (Social contacts +1)

Other magi

Caitlin is an intense young woman who don't really understand. She's ex-Misc. and very good at the elements but seems to love the mountains more than people. You've never really been able to get really close to her.

Erin is an expert in faerie magic, and in particular Muto magics. She also believes that she is a faerie, though she clearly is not. However, she is always good natured, and sweet, and you cannot help but like her most of the time, even if she annoys you sometimes with her peculiarities.

Felix is a magus that you find difficult to understand, as his magic is so far removed from pure hermetic theory and he is so reserved. As a member of Bjornaer he is attuned best to the forms of Animal and Herbam. He can be a little withdrawn and sometimes seems even pained by his gift, but you believe him trustworthy, as far as you can tell.

Fidelis is such a lab-rat it isn't true. He is a Bonisagus, and an expert in Vim. He is unhealthily obsessed with magic, twisted with arthritis, and rarely goes out and seems to seek magic for its own sake, rather than appreciating it as a mere part of humanity. He seems to be attempting to guide the covenant, but you find it difficult to trust someone who cannot comprehend mundanes as well as magi.

Reynaud is a Tytalus, the filius of Sirius and is an arrogant and difficult young man. He seems to believe that with his parent gone, he is the natural leader of the covenant, and tends to give orders assuming everyone else will follow them. This annoys you sometimes, especially when he tries to tell you how to deal with mundanes. In such cases you are the expert and should expert to have a say, if not to lead the covenant.

Septimus is a solid chap, as you might expect of a member of House Verditius and an expert in Terram magics. He mostly seems stable and sensible, though he does seem to have unfortunate things happen to him at the worst times.
